The World Federation of Environmental and Intercultural Journalists (WOFEJ) is thrilled to announce that two journalists associations from Somalia joined it as full affiliate members SOMESHA and SIJA.

The Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) is an association of  journalists and media practitioners who are specialized to expand and improve media coverage of key nation issues, including Climate change,  the Environment, Agriculture, Science, Public health, Migration, Peace-keeping and Civil insecurity.

The members of SOMESHA are professionals whose mission is to tell the world about the substantial challenges of environmental concerns in the country which is far less studied. And they are the current journalists and media professionals including reporters, editors, webmasters and producers working for all media outlets in the country.

The motive drive of the Somalia Intercultural Journalists Association (SIJA) is to develop awareness of intercultural journalism internationally by building the capacity of media professionals to undertake engaging, incisive, accurate, impartial, high quality intercultural journalism.

The World Federation of Environmental and Intercultural Journalists (WOFEJ) aims to safeguard the rights and livelihoods of environ and intercultural journalists globally, inclusive of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, and sexual preference.

SIJA is the first intercultural level member organization of the World Federation of Environmental and Intercultural Journalists (WOFEJ) and the 1st member in general of the World Federation of Environmental and Intercultural Journalists (WOFEJ) while SOMESHA is the first environmental association and the 2nd in general.
