The members of the Intercultural Journalists Association of Tanzania (IJAT) and the entire Tanzania journalists and media practitioners are welcoming the imperative affiliation of the World Federation of Environmental and Intercultural Journalists (WOFEJ) as WOFEJ thrilled to announce it on her Twitter on June 221, 2022.

After seven days consecutive WhatsApp chatting dialogue as national Intercultural journalism gathering level organized and hosted by WOFEJ. Tanzanian journalists agreed to create their national level guild and better named it as the Intercultural Journalists Association of Tanzania (IJAT) while Mr. Mussa Juma was elected the first president of IJAT and Mr. Prosper Baraka Secretary General

The purpose of the IJAT is to develop awareness of intercultural journalism internationally by building the capacity of media professionals to undertake engaging, incisive, accurate, impartial, high quality intercultural journalism.

The WOFEJ nurtures the global intercultural journalists and environ journalism through education, projects, conferences, and the creation of national associations. It is dedicated to fostering collegiality and professional networks to strengthen environ and intercultural journalism, and in turn, civil society.

The World Federation of Environmental and Intercultural Journalists (WOFEJ) aims to safeguard the rights and livelihoods of environ and intercultural journalists globally, inclusive of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, and sexual preference.

IJAT is the sixth intercultural level member organization of the World Federation of Environmental and Intercultural Journalists (WOFEJ) and the 18th member in general of the World Federation of Environmental and Intercultural Journalists (WOFEJ. After zoom discussions IJAT was changed to Tanzania Environmental and Intercultural Journalists (TEIJ).
